Still Life with Warm Tones

There is a particular quiet in a still life — the objects do not move, and yet they breathe. This oil study captures the warmth of afternoon light falling across arranged forms, each shadow layered patiently, each highlight earned.

Oil on canvas. Instructor demonstration, 2024.

Portrait in Graphite

The face is the most honest subject. This pencil portrait demonstrates the patience required to render likeness — the subtle pressure changes that build a cheekbone, the restraint needed around the eyes. A student's work, but with an instructor's discipline.

Graphite on cartridge paper. Student work, 2024.

Monsoon Light

Watercolour punishes hesitation and rewards trust. This landscape study captures the particular quality of light before rain — the greens deepened, the sky heavy with moisture. The white of the paper does half the work, left deliberately untouched where light falls strongest.

Watercolour on cold-pressed paper. Student work, 2024.

Abstraction No. 3

Not all art represents. Sometimes the colours themselves are the subject — their weight, their movement, the way they push and pull against each other. This acrylic composition explores tension and balance through pure form and pigment.

Acrylic on canvas. Student work, 2024.
